Stuart Pollard was one of two men at a house in Kooringal when an undetermined reaction caused a LPG gas cylinder to explode on July 1.
Mr Pollard, 47, was taken to hospital with burns to his face, hands and legs while the other man sustained minor burns.
Just weeks before the accident, Mr Pollard won numerous awards for Freedom Pools and Spas Riverina at the 2015 Swimming Pool and Spa Association of NSW and ACT awards.
A Go Get Funding account was set up by Mr Pollard’s family to raise money that will be vital to covering the costs of his medical bills.
Mr Pollard’s brother-in-law, Byron Wooden, has been posting regular updates to the funding page on his progress and recovery.
The total raised currently sits at $19,826 from almost 150 people.
They are less than $200 away from the $20,000 target.
On August 1, Mr Wooden posted to the page that Mr Pollard was home and in good spirits.
“There is a long way to recovery and his wife (my sister) Fiona is a tower of strength, he is very luck to have her,” Mr Wooden wrote.
