The path to her milestone match has been paved with setbacks, Abbott has endured a spate of injuries over a six year period.
“She’s got a lot of pace, she’s highly skilful player, but she’s lightly built and gets injured very easily,” Lions coach Daniel Lloyd said.
“Even though she’s quick, you only have to get caught here or there and you’re out.
“It takes commitment to push through injuries so regularly.”
Abbott played as a half back in the Lions’ victory over Gungahlin, winning 2.9 (21) to 2.0 (12) on Saturday.
Blistering winds damaged the Lions’ efforts upfront.
“We dominated possession but it was nearly impossible to score.”
Lloyd exchanged taller forwards for shorter, faster players at three quarter time, facilitating a come from behind victory.
