Late last night our artillery opened fire in all directions. The Eleventh Bn. and Light Horse then charged about 2,300 and took one line of trenches. The artillery and rifle fire continued a good while later. Later on we captured the second line of trenches, thus imprisoning about 2000 Turks in the saps. They have not gave in yet. The German aeroplane was over again this evening but did nothing. Wass and I took his new invention for signalling out of trenches down to Bde Hdqrs today and it was favourably commented on. In the advance last night we lost 29 men killed and 70 wounded. The Col of the L.H. was among the killed.
