More than 1200 people turned out at the small town in November last year for the launch of the band's 16th album.
A small group of residents are hoping to build on that success by launching the Rock of Bust Music Festival.
A subcommittee of the Rock Progress Association are working on developing the annual music festival.
It is hoped the annual event will promote The Rock as a destination.
The Lockhart Shire Council are backing the event with a one-off contribution of $10,000.
More than 1500 people are expected to attend the event which is being promoted as family friendly.
Young bands are encouraged to perform at the festival to win a week of studio recording time.
Bands must audition via an online process with seven bands selected to play on the day.
