Riverina Equestrian Association’s (REA) Showjumping Club will host the Riverina Showjumping Festival at Charles Sturt University’s highly-regarded Equine Centre.
Entries have flooded in for the event with 800 showjumping rounds expected to be held over the two days.
The event has already attracted riders from Canberra, northern Victoria, the South Coast and central west.
REA showjumping president Michael Lucas expects a big weekend of showjumping.
“This is shaping up to be the biggest and best festival for the club so far,” Lucas said.
“We are encouraging anyone with an interest in equestrian sport to take advantage of the free entry to the grounds and come and witness the premier show jumping event in the Riverina.”
The main event of the weekend will be the Grand Prix.
Held on Sunday, the Grand Prix will showcase the top class rider and horse combinations over obstacles reaching 1.40 metres in height.
This year’s festival will also host a qualifying round of the Jumping NSW Amateur of the Year series.
Another feature will be the fancy dress speed derby under lights on Saturday night.
