Gundagai is scheduled to host the first Southern District race meeting of the new season on Sunday but it is in doubt due to the recent wet weather.
Southern District chief steward John Davidson has inspected the track twice in the past week and described it as “extremely heavy”.
“We looked at Gundagai on Monday and while it has dried out, it is still extremely heavy,” Davidson said.
“We will take acceptances like normal and inspect the track on Friday morning.
“We don’t need any more rain.”
