Moran fronted a Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) inquiry on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to two charges.
The particulars of those charges were that on January 15, Moran placed a $50 bet via the TAB on Benoah at Wagga, a horse he was driving.
The second charge came at Leeton on January 30 when he placed $50 on Smo, a horse trained and driven by his partner Laura Crossland, when he was driving Major Jules in the same race, the Leeton Pacers Cup.
Stewards fined Moran $500 for the first offence at Wagga, but issued him a three-month disqualification for the Leeton case.
The disqualification commenced at midnight on July 28.
In determining the penalty, stewards took into account all circumstances and were mindful or Moran’s licence history, personal subjective facts, including personal and financial hardships, and his guilty plea.
Moran has been very successful in the Riverina in recent times and was the leading driver in the South West and Riverina this season, at the time of the charges.
Moran is stable driver for the Hillier stable.
