It was the fourth time in three years mainly due to the fact that there wasn’t a great deal to write about due to the inclement weather and I also didn’t want to bore you with writing something about nothing just for the sake of writing.

Anyway a couple of things this weekend.

I have written before about evolving sounders on the market and I would like to inform you about a new sounder – well not a new sounder Garmin sounders/fish finders have been around for a long time – however they went quiet, or dropped the ball for a period of time, but now they are back with a new thing called “Panoptix”.

Now I like my sounders and the way they “help” you try and catch fish,

Notice I said try, just because you may have a good sounder, doesn’t mean that you are going to catch whatever you see on it – you still have to be a good fishermen to catch fish in the way of presentation, ability to position baits and lures, equipment used, etc.

Back to Panoptix.

This is how it is reported on You Tube: Garmin is the first to bring Panoptix sonar imaging to your boat. Panoptix all-seeing sonar is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on the water. It gives you the ability to see all around your boat in real-time. You can see fish in the water column in 3D. You can also see your bait cast into the water and watch it as you reel it in. You can see fish swimming in front of or below your boat. You can even see them chase your lure.

But to truly appreciate Panoptix, you have to see it.

So have a quick look on You Tube so you can appreciate what I am writing about.

It truly is pretty bloody good.

Next weekend the International Sydney boat show is on (might be able to see a Panoptix in action) it will be held at Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour and Glebe Island.

The harbor will be for the floating boats or pretty much ships and Glebe Island will be for the rest.

I will not be going this year due to the fact that too busy at the shop and I will wait till next year when it will be all back at Darling Harbour.

If you are interested in anything new boat wise, I would recommend going to the show to check things out, just remember to give your local boat boys ago.

I am pretty sure that they can match whatever you can get at the show - apples for apples - and you will help to keep jobs and business local.

Burrinjuck: With the crap weather that has been around and I say that with all due respect to our cockies – you can make money out of mud, you can’t make it out of dust – only the heartiest of fishermen have ventured out and some have been rewarded for their troubles, unfortunately not in this impoundment, a couple of small yellas, no reddies and bugger all carp.

Blowering: Couple of locals had a go at Blowering and were rewarded with some excellent fish, not in quantity but in quality Rhys Creed and Jack Zyhalak landed and quickly returned a meter cod. Grant Higginson also managed a nice 70cm plus fish and dropped bigger one. They also mentioned that the yellas were schooling but not biting.

Talbingo: No reports.

Tantangara: A few trout have been caught trolling but the water level is starting to drop so that may slow things down a bit.

Eucumbene: I am finally able to talk about this water way again; trolling has been very good - yea right – up towards Buckenderra using Tassies and small minnows about 30 meters off the banks, mainly browns but a few rainbows as well. One complaint is the rubbish people are leaving behind, take your crap home with you otherwise you will not be allowed to fish there for much longer, it’s not rocket science.

Jindabyne: Similar to Eucumbene trolling around 30 metres from the bank is producing some nice Rainbows, bait is also accounting for some good fish, grubs and power bait are the favorites.

Hume Weir: Couple of nice trout near the wall and a couple of brightly coloured yellas as well, not much else.

Mulwala: No reports.

The River: No reports.

South coast: Some Blue Fin are being recorded out on the 1000 fathom mark by the pro’s and some big sizes too, the flathead have gone cold a bit in the estuaries but still got salmon and tailor from the beaches.

Eucumbene 47.9, Hume weir 35.4, Blowering 35.2, Burrinjuck 51.4, Jindabyne 60, Tantangara 27.3, Talbingo 83.1, Mulwala 7.1, Dartmouth 71.7.
