The annual agricultural careers fair hosted by Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga attracted more than 200 people.
The event gives students and potential future employers a chance to catch up and discuss the options.
Agricultural and wine science and school of animal and veterinary science students attended the Approaching Ag event at Joys Hall.
Event organiser and bachelor of agricultural science student Amy Walker said it was an important opportunity for students to make connections and gather information to help tailor subject choices in their final years of study.
"The Australian agricultural industry is diverse, vibrant and progressive and we really want our fair to reflect that," she said.
"Our message to the industry is to get involved to secure the future of your business or organisation.
"During the event students will meet with industry representatives and hear from CSU graduates who will share their experience of the workforce.
Guest speaker Alison Hamilton, a NSW runner up in the 2010 RIRDC Rural Women's Award, talked about the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Agricultural business management student Teresa Sutton is completing her third year of studies at CSU.
She grew up at Adaminaby and later studied at Yanco Agricultural High School.
“Going to an agricultural high school sparked my interest in the industry,” she said.
After attending the Approaching Ag event Miss Sutton said she didn’t realise there were so many agribusiness opportunities.
“There are a lot of businesses focusing on young people,” she said.
“It was a really good event, and it was a lot bigger than last year, a lot more students went.”
