The problems are: urban heat island effect, land use changes and questionable adjustments to the long term temperature records. (Some adjustments are legitimate when bringing together two data sets, through the homogenization process). These problems are corrupting the record.

The LBTRs are used to promote the climate con even though all other data sets are showing a general cooling of the world since the turn of the century.

Recently, we have the matter of Rutherglen, in Victoria, where the raw data is showing a long term cooling trend and yet BOM, after adjustments, shows Rutherglen as having a strong warming trend. Many questions have been asked, but to date, BOM has not provided an adequate answer.

However, a further problem may be skewing the data upwards, creating a spurious trend, in world temperatures. Something, it appears that BOM and other bureaux are loathe to discuss.

There has been a trend to installing thermistors, electronic devices to measure temperature, instead of mercury thermometers, around the world. These thermistors are very sensitive to slight changes in temperature. Many have been installed at airports.

The problem with airport installations is that there are often large aircraft generating enormous amounts of heat. This heat is sometimes blown across to the thermistor, which being very sensitive, picks up the change even though the duration may be short. The thermistors are probably detecting temperature spikes that a mercury thermometer would not record.

Recent examples are Alice Springs airport and Heathrow airport in London.

All the profits (prophets) of doom and gloom should be rejoicing, when it can be shown that there is no global warming happening. No global warming=no climate change; thus we are “saved”.

I invite the climate crooks to emanate from the woodwork and tell me, and readers, where I am wrong.

I am concerned about the issue with the low level of water and the proposal to remedy the situation.

Filling the lake for water sports is something that I totally support via a levy if that is the only option.

My major concern is that as a ratepayer the Wagga Country Golf Club will still have access to the water from the lake, so in essence all ratepayers may possibly be paying for the golf course to be watered.

During the third State of Origin the ghost writers’ hero Mitchell Pearce sledged Jonathon Thurston, telling him he was too old. Thurston responded by telling Pearce he was the weakest player to represent NSW.

For years I’ve been saying Pearce was over-rated. Running the ball is not his forte. That is one reason he has always failed in Origin – it’s not his type of game.

Backing up Thurston and my opinion of Pearce, in State of Origin III Mitch missed six tackles and made a record in rugby league worldwide of six metres covered in 90 minutes of football in attack. Thurston covered 108 metres.

Wagga City Councillors should re-think their smoking ban on the main street.

Smoking is legal, discrimination is not. And that’s all it is – discrimination.

I wonder how many of the above are ex-smokers? Be interesting to know.
