Power price hike
We recently received our Origin electricity account, yet despite our usage decreasing, our regular fortnightly payments exceeding usage costs, charges, GST, etc, Origin have advised us that our fortnightly payments must increase by $18.

To date we have not seen the $500 decrease in electricity costs as promised by Tony Abbott when he scrapped the carbon tax.
Also Premier Mike Baird promised no increases in costs at the last election when they agreed to sell the poles and wires.
Despite these promises we have to ask why the need to increase our payments. The advertising did however state one of the reasons for the increase was the “cost of electricity” - ie price increases.
If I was a betting man I’d wager a significant price increase for electricity despite promises from two honest leaders.

Hell no,
I'm really proud of my hometown. I grew up in Lake Albert, went to LAPS and KHS and studied at Charles Sturt. I was very proud to be involved in the Evocities campaign to encourage people to live, work and invest in Wagga. It was an easy story to tell - I know what a great place it is.
I've got lifelong friends I made in Wagga - people I'm proud to know. Quite a few of them are gay - and some are parents. They are loving, caring people who inspire me. So it was with a sinking heart I read the opinion piece by Keith Wheeler.
Not only was the logic flawed - what evidence is there that gay marriage would have any impact on HIV rates or lead to polyamory - but his statements about children of gay parents are downright offensive.
Mr Wheeler's comments have been widely shared and condemned by my Wagga friends, and many far beyond. Please add my name to the list of people saying "Oh hell no" to Mr Wheeler's call to action.

Keeping small town alive
Well done Yerong Creek. To Mark, Kevin, Andrew and Steve, what a great day was had by all.
Reminiscing and tall tales (but true) were told of the 1954 Aussie rules grand final between Yerong Creek and Milbrulong, which Yerong Creek won.
Good food was served by local girls in the beautifully decorated hall and tables. Thanks to the chef and decorators. Just shows what a small community and the magnificent venue can do.

Smoke-free too far
The council had best get this one right the first time. The current ban on smoking in stores and eating places is quite sufficient and possible to police. If the ban is extended to the streets considered, does this mean a motorist cannot smoke whilst driving or being parked in these zones? Even as a non-smoker I believe this latest consideration is going far too far.

$40k black hole
I believe that Bill Shorten truly forgot about the $40,000 donation he received for his election campaign.
What I can't understand is why he needed it. Maribyrnong is one of the safest labor seats in Victoria. He had done his Labor apprenticeship (ex trade union rep).
He was a certainty to be elected. The people in Maribyrnong are as stupid as the people in the Riverina. Vote the same way all the time. They are left we are right.
What someone should ask is, what was the money spent on? Branch stacking? I suppose you have to be Preselected to get elected.
