What if we admitted marriage can be tough, motherhood is a challenge and doing it all is exhausting.
What if, instead of the Hollywood version of marriage and motherhood, we saw a depiction of how it really is – relentless, exhilarating, infuriating, hilarious, complicated.
Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life is the new hit Australian musical that's wowing audiences and critics alike since its 2010 debut.
Both an entertaining musical comedy and thought provoking drama it is unafraid to tell the truth about parenthood, relationships and the juggle to “do it all”.
The show follows a year in the lives of four best friends, Kate, Bec, Lily and Jessie.
Each week they meet in the cafe Lily owns to drink coffee and share their lives with one another, as they go through the relatable highs and lows of relationships, parenting and the daily grind.
They are the “every woman”, giving audiences a picture of their own experiences on stage, with a story that shines a light on the little moments that make up our lives.
Written by and starring Amity Dry, well known from the hit TV show The Block as well as her top 10 album The Lighthouse, this musical truly is a home grown success story.
It has performed for thousands of audience members, with successful seasons and tours in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
Chosen for the New York Musical Theatre Festival it has received rave reviews both here and abroad, with full house standing ovations for its New York shows.
Recently staged in New York at the United Nations, for the Commission for the Status of Women Conference, there is also a Norwegian production premiering in 2015.
The ultimate “girls night out” this funny, poignant and endearing show will make you laugh, cry and leave feeling like your complicated life is completely normal.

Go see it. Then just try and wipe the smile off your face. It is nothing short of brilliant." Rebecca Sparrow, Mamamia.com.au
