The club donated $30,000 for a scholarship to assist Doctor Matteo Carlino of Westmead Hospital and the Melanoma Institute of Australia further his development of a new class of drugs.
He was in Wagga yesterday to explain his findings, which included who the drugs would work on, why they stopped working and the next stage of treatment.
He said having a melanoma nurse in Wagga has allowed patients to remain in their home town to have their medications administered correctly.
Wollundry Rotary also raise $60,000 from last year's Food and Wine Festival, which was donated to the Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust.
Dr Carlino is currently in the midst of running clinical trials in Sydney.
