The Steamers have only lost one this year and despite taking a while to hit their straps travelled back to the border with a 54-13 win.
The Steamers led 19-13 at half-time before four tries late in the game blew out the scoreline.
Albury coach Mick Raynes was impressed by the Tuskers but thought his team was rusty coming off the bye.
“The last 25 minutes we started to play ok but it took us a fair bit to get into the game,” Raynes said.
Raynes thought the team’s set piece struggled to overcome the Tuskers but is expecting improvement as the club moves into the next phase of the competition.
“With two games then a bye and three games then a bye it’s made it really hard to get a good rhythm together and now that we’ve got a good bank of three or four games we should be able to build a bit of momentum,” Raynes said.
Moving Tom Wilmore to halfback for the clash is a switch that is set to stick.
The Englishman added extra spark at the breakdown although Raynes admitted it will take his forwards time to adapt to his faster style.
Welsh flyer James Olds crossed for four tries in the game to finish with a personal tally of 34 points.
