Last month, council was led to the home of a Mount Austin resident who was “unknowingly” selling a noxious weed known as water lettuce on Facebook.
The weed has the potential to quickly cover water surfaces and interfere with irrigation or boat use.
Council said the weed had been given to the resident as a gift and was kept in a goldfish pond.
The weed was mostly destroyed.
