Ten life-sized steel cows, standing nearly two metres tall and three metres long, will be erected at Wirraway Park to reflect the region's pastoral history. 

Expected to be installed by November, the $25,000 artwork is part of Wagga Council’s Public Art Plan and is being supported by Origin Energy.

The project marks the first time council and Origin have partnered to further the company’s community investment.

Council's cultural officer Tracie Miller said the design encouraged residents and visitors to interact with the sculptures.

Origin plant manager Paul Olsen said the concept was well-received when it was mentioned at the recent Progress Association meeting and Uranquinty was a strongly arts-minded community.
