The men were laying bitumen on a residential Plumpton Road driveway using an LPG gas cylinder when there was an undetermined reaction, according to Fire and Rescue Turvey Park station officer Glen Kimpton.
Police, paramedics and firefighters swarmed on the home soon after 1.30pm. A NSW Ambulance spokesman said two men were treated at the home before being taken to Wagga Base Hospital.
A 47-year-old is in a serious condition with burns to the face, hands and legs, while the other sustained minor burns. Fire from the explosion was contained before crews arrived, Officer Kimpton said.
2pm: A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after an explosion in Kooringal.
Police, paramedics and firefighters swarmed on the Plumpton Road home soon after 1.30pm.
It is understood emergency services were responding to reports of a gas bottle explosion.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed that paramedics attended a Plumpton Road address after being called around 1.40pm.
Two men were treated at the home before being taken to Wagga Base Hospital.
One of the men, a 47-year-old, is in a serious condition and suffering burns to the face, hands and legs.
Another man suffered minor burns in the incident.
