Cr Alan Brown proposed council obtain the assent of the club to construct an alternate section of the fire trail and erect a fence around the licensed area to allow the club to safely display its engines.
"We absolutely need a circuit breaker (to) this issue," Cr Brown said. "The relationship with the club and council has completely broken down. We need to move forward and try resurrect the relationship."
Cr Brown’s proposal follows an extensive fight to secure the club’s licensed area. "They should be restoring engines, not ticking boxes and building fences," he declared. Councillors resolved to spend $25,000 from the rural halls maintenance fund and the natural reserves ground maintenance budget after an hour-long debate.
