Anytime Fitness noticed a decline in people attending the gym due to the cold weather so they struck a deal with members – for every kilometre completed on a cardio machine, they would donate 50 cents to Angels for the Forgotten.
Members simply had to take a photo of the console and upload it to Facebook last week as proof.
A target of 1000 kilometres was set.
More than 1027 kilometres were completed and a total of $513.88 was raised.
“Knowing they are coming back and contributing to their health and fitness but also that they are contributing to a good cause … it was really well received,” club manager of Baylis Street, Amy McLachlan, said.
