- Wagga High School principal, Ray Burton is retiring after 37 years of service in the Department of Education.
- Charlie Bell who has worked in the Officers’ Mess at the Kapooka Army Base for 23 years has been presented with a Public Service Award by Commandant, Colonel Gordon Hurford.
- Council has rejected a move by Ald. Jim Eldridge to ask the State Government to ban the Gay Mardi Gras but it will call for a withdrawal of public funding for the event.
- Council has decided to support the Tatton Action Committee which is opposing the closure of the Tatton Primary School.

- More than 400 National Service trainees arrived in Wagga as part of the first intake of National Service trainees at Kapooka.
- Incoming president of the South Wagga Rotary Club accepted the club’s charter from the immediate past president, Mr John Morrison at the Club’s annual changeover dinner.
- Edmondson’s are advertising Bon Aire oil fired central heaters for £70 reduced from £103/19/-
- Dianna Thomas beat Robyn Bennett 3 and 2 at the Country Golf Club championship.
- More than 80 people attended a citizen’s rally to mark the end of Salvation Army Centenary celebrations in Wagga.
- Wagga High School beat Wagga Christian Brothers College 21/5 in the first match of the Scott Shield series.
- Minister for Air, Mr Howson reviewed a ceremonial parade of 140 Air Force apprentices who have completed two and a half years technical training at the Wagga RAAF Base at Forest Hill.
