The beanies – which range from emu inspired hats to pretty floral displays – are just some of pieces from the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.
Gallery curator Stephen Payne said the beanies represented a collaboration between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australian artists.
“It is an icon at the top end and it bring people together,” Mr Payne said.
‘The popularity of the beanie festival has spread to cover the whole country.”
He said every hat was quirky and eccentric.
“I think the one showing a bed and a book is probably the most nostalgic and quirky,” he said.
The exhibition runs until July 12.
