Both sides were scoreless with just minutes to go when Junee centre back and man of the match Steph Puttock made a risky run up the wing, knocked the ball across goals in front two Junee players who missed it, it was collected by Junee’s winger and planted in the back of the net.
“Our forward who jumped to head it was called offside,” Junee coach Craig Duncan said.
Junee players walked away disappointed with a 0-0 draw.
“In all fairness Tolland had their chances, our goalkeeper Sarah Smart made some really nice saves,” Duncan said.
The draw ended Tolland’s winning streak, and has spurred on the existing rivallry between clubs.
“Look out next time, Tolland,” Duncan said.
To make that win against Tolland a reality Duncan plans on emulating Tolland’s build up.
“Tolland passed the ball nicely, we just need a bit more consistency in midfield,” he said.
Duncan has been putting the girls through their paces at training which has produced some pleasing results.
“Their fitness has improved out of sight, we’re way fitter than we were last season,” Duncan said.
Junee play at home again on Sunday against Cootamundra, who were defeated 9-0 by Henwood Park last week.
