A VICTORIAN man accused of leading police on a Hume Highway pursuit before running out of petrol east of Wagga has been refused bail.

Garry Cane, 34, of Hoppers Crossing, was arrested on Thursday morning after an alleged pursuit at Tumblong during which it is alleged he menaced a police officer in a Ford Explorer he was driving .
He has been charged with eight offences: police pursuit, exceeding the speed by more than 30km/h, menacing driving, driving with an unauthorised number plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, refusing to provide a blood or urine sample and driving while disqualified.
Police from Wagga and Gundagai were involved in the incident.
Crane did not enter pleas to the charges in Wagga Local Court on Friday.
The case was adjourned to Monday, May 25.
