Under the new tribunal system in place this year, Hamilton has been offered a prescribed penalty of two competition matches.
With an early guilty plea, Hamilton can accept one game, or he can choose to contest the penalty at the independent tribunal.
The head butt on Narrandera player Reece Borg was deemed intentional, low impact and high contact.
Meantime, AFL Riverina has revealed the red card issued to Hamilton last Saturday night was a mistake.
The NSW-ACT AFL by-laws were changed over the off-season and now the two yellow cards must include a report to result in a red card.
Hamilton was reported for his first yellow card, but not his second.
