HARD LINES of the 1973 Classic Monaro glisten with a fresh coat of glossy paint – this car has been nurtured back to life by five talented inmates at Junee Correctional Centre.
The restored Holden HQ Monaro has been fully stripped, spray painted, reworked and restored by electricians, a spray painter and self-taught motoring enthusiasts. Who are also prisoners.
The car will be sold off with funds raised donated to Wagga and Blacktown PCYCs.
GEO Group Australia, which operates Junee and Parklea correctional centres, has donated the car to PCYC NSW.
Managing director Pieter Bezuidenhout said the strong working relationship between the prisons and PCYC was important.
“GEO is delighted to give this magnificent car to PCYC so the proceeds from its sale can be allocated to youth programs in the local community,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.
PCYC Wagga will use the funds to purchase a desperately needed 22-seater bus for its KidzCare and police youth programs.
