A YOUNG couple who woke early to attend Saturday’s dawn service is among the unprecedented number of victims who have had their cars stolen and torched, with seven reported incidents over the Anzac Day weekend.

Nathan and Sarah Curtis woke to find their FX Falcon missing from their Tolland home and later burnt out at Northcott Parade.
“Locking it up in your own carport should be enough,” Mr Curtis said. “We work hard, do the right thing and this is what happens.”
The couple only recently returned from their honeymoon.
“We are saving to one day buy our own home and this is the last thing that we needed and has set us back so much,” Mrs Curtis said.
It follows revelations that a car is being stolen every two days in Wagga, according to police.
Nearly half of the 11 eleven vehicles recovered from Ashmont since March 1 have been torched on public reserves.
Tolland is the second most problematic suburb with four of the 30 vehicles recovered from the Wagga command located in the area.
“We are concerned because vehicles, in the majority of cases, are people’s livelihoods,” Wagga police crime manager Detective Inspector Darren Cloake
“These are deep-seated social issues.
“Police are one part of a (larger) treament or soluition."
Identified programs targetting young offenders is at the top of his wish list.
Wagga police have locked up more than five major offenders for significant crimes in the last week.
