JASON Grimson only had one drive at Coolamon’s 10-race card on Saturday, but it was all he needed to bring up his first ever win.

Two weeks after gaining his drivers’ licence Grimson steered Village Witch home in the Ganmain Bakery Pace.
Village Witch held off Shezagaga to score a memorable 2.6-metre win.
The 21-year-old had only had a dozen drivers before breaking his duck and was pleased to score the win for Josh Powderly.
“I was especially good to win for Josh as he’s put a lot of time into me,” Grimson said.
He’s been working for the Young trainer for the past six months after following father Colin, who trained Double Identity, into the game.
The win wasn’t just a first for Grimson, but it was also the first time Village Witch has greeted the judge first.
With five placings from 10 starts the four-year-old daughter of Village Jasper hadn’t been far away, but did come into the race with unplaced efforts from her last three starts.
Still Grimson came into the race confident despite drawing barrier six.
“I thought she was a good chance but drawn wide is pretty hard as it’s pretty tight here,” he said.
“I went three wide as I thought they were going slow and should get up there.
“She done it pretty easy in the end even though she’s lazy.”
