Ross is yet to commit to the club in the long term, but was a more than welcome inclusion for the Reddies who were buoyed be a number returning players in the win.
Mitch Fealy, Dean Smart and Andrew Dutton also boosted the team and made an immediate impact.
Dutton impressed at halfback, Fealy along with Brent Merritt led the strong back line while Smart’s big work rate at flanker earned him man of the match honours.
Coach Paul Spain wants to use the win as a way to reboot the season after disappointing losses in the first two rounds.
“It’s almost a restart to the season,” Spain said.
The first year coach was happy with how his team started, laying a platform which was too hard for the Yabbies to reach.
“We started strongly which we knew we needed to against Young over there and scored some early tries which put the game out of their reach,” Spain said.
Getting that first win under their belts Spain has given the team a week off from training to coincide with the bye.
“We’ve got a good runs of games coming up with Coota, Tumut, Ag College and Leeton so we need starting to get a few more wins on board,” he said.
Spain was also happy to see improvements in the team’s defensive work and in the lineout.
