IT’S not every day you see a star in the making, but catching Travis Green on stage at the Monkey Bar on Friday night, I couldn’t help but think this is Mandurah’s next big thing.

Green, a local teenager, took to the stage with little fanfare, and it didn’t take long to realise he needed nothing but his guitar and his voice to get us to sit up and take notice.
Performing songs from his own EP, Clarity, Green warmed up a small crowd before bringing out the big guns with a cover of Bill Withers’ Ain’t No Sunshine.
To say the 18-year-old nailed a song released more than 25 years before he was even born would be an understatement; he smashed it.
What followed was an assortment of original tracks and inspired cover choices that made me want to search through his parents’ record collection.
They would probably have let me, too.
His biggest fans, Green’s parents – who until recently had to chaperone him to gigs due to his young age – were in the crowd and happy to chat about their talented offspring.
The proud parents may find themselves sharing their son with more and more people soon though, with Green’s star definitely on the rise.
A haunting rendition of Matt Corby’s Brother brought the house down.
It’s not often you will hear an 18-year-old out-perform a professional singer, but Green has the goods.
If you get a chance to catch him live – do it.
He’ll be selling out stadiums soon enough.
