The Blacks bolted out of the blocks, leading 15-0 early as Sami scored all the points.
In conditions that didn’t suit Sami controlled the match, combining well with inside centre Dan Bozic.
Co-coach Nick Gleeson was very impressed with the duo.
“It’s not really a backs game in this weather but they performed out of their skins,” Gleeson said.
With the Blacks’ forwards on top early the fast start was the key for the 20-5 win.
“It was a good win in pretty ordinary conditions,” Gleeson said.
“We won it in the first 20 minutes when we scored three times and they didn’t turn up for the first 20 minutes and they did.
“It was pretty encouraging but after that we lost a bit of discipline and didn’t put them to the sword as we wanted to but that will come with playing more together and trusting each other in defence.”
Both teams scored a try in the second half as Griffith’s lack of disciple gave Aggies more opportunities with the ball.
After a tumultuous off-season the Blacks are now two from two, while Ag College will have to wait until next month for the chance to get a win on the board.
