“THIS is the biggest thrill of my life,” said Mrs Moyra Cassie as she viewed plans for a hydrotherapy pool at Wagga Base Hospital. Mrs Cassie has coordinated the hydrotherapy pool project since its inception in 1981, the International Year of the Disabled. The fundraising target of $150,000 is nearly reached.
Dr Malcolm Allen, wine science lecturer at Charles Sturt University, has returned from almost two months lecturing on wine science and biochemistry in Portugal.
Deputy town clerk and Wollundry Rotary Club member, Tony Elphick, handed over a cheque for $1000 to chairman of the Focus on Aging committee, Mr Jack Skeers. The money was raised largely from the club’s operation of the Sunday Markets.

50 years ago
COLONEL D B Dunstan has been appointed the Commanding Officer of the Kapooka Military Camp. He will deliver the occasional address at this year’s 50th Anniversary Anzac Day commemorative service.
More than 100 different Chinese meals are available at the Ko Wah restaurant which opened two weeks ago in Baylis Street. Manager, Mr Colin Soo employs three Chinese cooks all with many years of experience.
Wagga Magpies five-eighth, John Mavroudis is the youngest player in the Riverina side to play Newcastle in the Rugby League inter-division championship match at Wagga.
A 39-year-old labourer was sentenced to seven days hard labour on a charge of vagrancy. He pleaded guilty to having insufficient means of support.
A 19-year-old labourer who had been fighting in Fitzmaurice Street early last Saturday was fined £3 for offensive behaviour.
