Best Friends Pet Rescue hit a milestone in February when they saved their 1000th animal.
The 35 carers now have 79 cats and 25 dogs in care.
The bill for food, kitty litter and worm and flea treatments for the animals can add up to $150 to $200 per week, per carer so they are asking for your help.
“Most of it at the moment is coming out of the carer’s pockets,” Best Friend Pet Rescue secretary, Maureen Turk, said.
“The animals that come to our care have had a bad start to life so a better quality of food is preferred.”
Mrs Turk has been an animal foster carer for more than two years and the organisations has been going for four years.
Most of the animals come to the carers from pounds across the Riverina and are housed with them until a suitable permanent home is found.
Donations of food, worming tablets, flea treatments and kitty litter can be left at the donation bins at Foodworks Lake Albert of Wollundry Fruit Barn and Pet World.
Best Friends Pet Rescue is also currently looking for more carers and owners for the pets currently in care.
