Principal Mick Powell and deputy principal Greg Hodges told students they would shave their heads if they raised $3000 and $5000, respectively.
Both leaders came good on their promise and had their head shaved on Friday after students raised $5129.
“I hoped I would lose my hair because it meant a sizeable amount of money was raised,” Mr Powell said.
Year 11 Student Representative Council member, Sabella Habels, was integral in organising this year’s event, which included shaving and dying hair and waxing legs.
She said the involvement of the school’s leaders provided further motivation.
“It meant the students were working towards a number rather than just making money,” she said.
Mr Powell said it was impressive to see this many students rally together to raise money for Cancer Council.
“It’s about team work and showing what a community can do by working together,” he said.
“Anything to do with finding a cure for cancer really resonates with people.”
Three head shaves were held at the school on March 20, March 25 and March 27.
Mr Powell agreed to shave his head if students raised $3000 but Mr Hodges said he would only do it if they raised $5000.
They reached both targets with ease.
“I’m quite happy with it,” Mr Powell said.
“I'm prepared to do it again but I’m going to set the bar higher.”
