Brothers will head to the United Kingdom to take on Batley Bulldogs in a pre-season trial next January.
Batley is the former club of new Brothers coach Ben Black.
Brothers president Riley Mullins said the idea was to think outside the square.
“It’s a reward for our players but we’ve also got our eye on an exchange thing if possible,” Mullins said.
“It might be where they have a look at some of our good players and see if they want to have a year over there, as well as the shoe on the other foot.
“It’s something different, which you’ve got to try and do these days.”
Batley will provide Brothers with accommodation while on the trip, the Wagga club just needs to cover the flights.
There is still a possibility that another one of Black’s old clubs, Halifax could become involved in the trial.
Black likes the idea.
“It’s all been approved and ready to go,” Black said.
“It’s a good opportunity to test ourselves over there, and for some blokes, maybe get a spot over there.
“It will be a good to start back a bit earlier after this season and also gives us something to look forward to after the season.”
Brothers had been relatively quiet over the off-season after the signing of Black.
Brothers this week unveiled their signings, headed by promising young centre Kirren Roughley from Ulladulla.
Brothers have also picked up Tumbarumba back rower Steve Arnold, back rower Jason Lagaali and RAAF pair Doc Halliday and Zac Studders.
Brothers will show off their new line-up in the Charity Shield clash against Coogee Dolphins at Equex Centre.
Black is happy with how his squad is coming together.
“We’re looking okay, we’ve obviously held these guys back for a while until they had signed and turned up,” Black said.
“Things are really good, there are a few young kids that have been improving at training and putting in 100 per cent.
“(Saturday) will be a good test, it will be a good hit out for us.”
Brothers have also welcomed on board new sponsor Oak Milk.
They will run promotions at home games as part of Brothers’ improved game day experience.
Brothers will take on Coogee Dolphins at 3pm at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Southcity will take on Queanbeyan Blues at 1pm and Kangaroos will take on Queanbeyan Roos at 5pm.
The official opening and naming of the Equex Centre grandstand will also take place.
