Ten teams will contest this year’s Pascoe Cup competition with five games set to take place on Sunday, headlined by a clash between defending champions Wagga United and highly-touted Henwood Park at Rawlings Park.
Soccer is the first of the winter codes to get their season started and Football Wagga president Erwin Budde is excited by what is to come.
“I think it’s our biggest season yet by far,” Budde said.
“We’ve got a 10-team Pascoe Cup competition with the introduction of Young.
“We’ve got basically seven new senior mens teams, which is phenomenal, so it’s going to be a very, very strong Pascoe Cup, complimented by a nine-team Gardiner Shield competition.”
Football Wagga has introduced a youth cup competition, which will run as an opened aged third grade division, but will be seen as a development league.
“On top of that we’ve got our over 30s and with Wagga Wanderers as well, the game in this city is going places, it’s very exciting.”
