The Baird government plans to LEASE 49 per cent of pole and wires. So now that we have sorted that out let’s see if Kevin Poynter, Ray Goodlass, Craig Couzens, Des Goonan and this paper can get their facts right.

Marginal seat the key
I WAS interested in Daryl Maguire's comments in the Weekend Advertiser, March 21, 2015, that there's no such thing as a safe seat these days and marginalising the seat of Wagga could send the seat straight into opposition.
Let's look at some facts. Mr Maguire currently holds the seat of Wagga by a massive 27.8 per cent. By comparison, in the federal seat of Riverina Mr McCormack “only” has a majority of 21.1 per cent.
Mr Maguire was first elected in 1999. A win on Saturday would potentially give him 20 years in the seat. The Liberals have held the seat since 1957 - 60 years as a safe Liberal seat are on the cards. Mr Maguire mentions his recent achievements such as the Base Hospital, Kapooka Bridge, etc.
I'm reasonably sure these were already pressing issues back in 1999. A decade and a half to see some action isn’t that impressive?
I know I'm not the first to suggest this but marginalising the seat of Wagga is exactly what the region needs. If you are not totally excited by what the Liberals have achieved in Wagga in the last 60 years vote for another party.
With a majority of nearly 30 per cent Mr Maguire isn’t going to lose. He wouldn't say it but I suspect Mr Maguire would actually like a smaller majority so he can really get things done in years 17 to 20 as member for Wagga.

Font size a problem
I REALISE other people have written in about this subject, and I do agree with them about the size of the font in your classified section, being too small, especially the death notices.
I feel at least the death notices should be acknowledge with bigger print.
They are hard to read, and it makes out the death notices aren’t of any importance, but these are loved ones of families and friends, who are hurting in their loss.
The people who have passed have been members of our communities and should be respected, which is being prompted these days by taking the font back to the old size.
I know it would be appreciated by the ones concerned.

Abbott lacks army respect
PRIME Minister Tony Abbott bemoaned a lack of respect and lack of dignity when an Indonesian official had his photograph taken with the two Bali 9 members awaiting execution.
Surely not the same Tony Abbott whom, when advised an Australian solider had been killed in Afghanistan, stated “shit happens”?
A dare for local member for Riverina Michael McCormack – to take Mr Abbott to task and advise him this soldier was an Australian citizen, sent to fight in a foreign land by the government - a son, a grandson, perhaps a brother, uncle, nephew, even husband and/or father.
Don’t forget Mick, there is a very large Army base in your electorate.
