EVERY time I see a new ad purporting the benefits of fitting solar power to your house, I wonder how many more people like us will be conned like we were.

We were lead to believe that solar panels would save us thousands of dollars.
Unfortunately, this is a complete scam.
We were lead to believe that our house would be run by the sunshine and that our energy provider would serve as a back-up on sunless days.
Unfortunately, this is not true.
The power provided by our panels goes into the grid that supplies all.
Our last energy account gave us a huge $47.80 discount for us supplying to the grid.
Who is benefitting?
The suppliers or others that don’t have solar panels?
A miniscual rebate for installing these panels from the government doesn’t make up for the lie.
Solar panels are a waste of money.
They do not pay for themselves as purported.
We are being ripped off.
I would advise those thinking of buying into this waste of money, don’t do it.
It’s a complete con job.

Camera a traffic trap
I HAVE noticed that the mobile speed camera signs (and vehicle) are reasonably easy to see on lightly trafficked roads but on busy roads with a lot of close parking are difficult to see.
If this camera system is really about road safety surely the signs and the car should be in eye catching colours and the signs larger.
This might have the effect of slowing traffic just as a police car seems to do.
The poor visibility re mobile speed cameras does seem to be more a revenue raising issue than a road safety issue.
Perhaps this is an issue that should be discussed by candidates for the NSW state election.

Look at whole picture
PAUL Bosman (Letters to the Editor, Thursday, March 12) is disturbed that we criticise Tony Abbott and his team unfairly because we don’t lovingly appreciate their “achievements”, some of which are now pretty old.
Not agreeing with everything seems to be “bias”.
We live in a society, not a business.
I note all but one of the listed achievements involves business.
It’s the other side of the agenda that’s a mess, and an embarrassment. Far from brainwashed, others look at the whole picture!

Hiding behind diaries
RE: Paul Funnell’s challenge to Daryl Maguire to debate
DO NOT worry Paul.
Daryl Maguire diaries seem to be so huge, he can hide behind them.
Daryl only likes soft focusses such as photo opportunities and the like.
Mainly because he has given in to the Sydney-centric Liberals.

Where does XPT rate?
PLEASE ask all local candidates what their stance is on the XPT train service issue.
Do they favour maintaining/upgrading the existing train service or are they in favour of replacing the trains with buses.
Their response may affect the way I intend to vote.
