As operators opened the Copland Street complex early Monday morning, their concerns reflected the realisation it had been broken into and ransacked for the fourth time in five years.

“It’s (frustrating because) when we have little kids here, you don’t want them being scared if things are smashed,” Wagga Swim School manager Rebecca Matthews said.

Between about 6.30pm Sunday and 7am Monday, an unknown person smashed a small section of the rear glass door and reached in to open it by the handle.

They then ransacked the pool, kitchen and reception areas, before leaving with the school’s camera.

Staff spent Monday morning cleaning up the damage to ensure no classes were directly impacted.

The glass panel on the door was also replaced that day.

Previously, thieves have gained entry via the front door and by shattering a side back window, which postponed classes while the pool was vacuumed to remove shards of glass.

While offenders have never once touched the two computers, a filing cabinet has been fully replaced after locks were repeatedly destroyed.

Owner Renae Hoogvelt listed various pool products and stock as items stolen over the years in what she believes is a desperate scavenge for money.

“They pull everything out,” she said.

“It’s a waste of time because there’s no cash ever held on the premises.

“There’s nothing really of major value.”

Mrs Hoogvelt believes hits to the two-pool indoor facility aren’t targeted, with surrounding businesses also under the wrath of intruders.

The school will look into installing CCTV cameras to deter future break-ins.

Wagga duty officer Sergeant Dale Holmes confirmed a person or persons gained entry at some stage overnight on Sunday via the rear door, before ransacking three rooms.

Sergeant Holmes said forensic police attended and investigations were continuing.
