In a remarkable result for the region, the competition’s underdogs finished fourth – a stunning turnaround from last year.
In 2014 the Riverina finished last at the prestigious tournament. “I’m so proud of the team’s performance,” coach Stacy Clark said.
“The team’s only losses were to the top three city region teams – Sydney North, Sydney South West and Sydney West.”
In an exciting milestone for the Riverina team, the squad beat powerhouse Sydney East 2-1 in a thrilling clash.
Although contributing the success to a “whole team effort”, Clark sang the praises of Wagga softball sensation Montana Kearnes of Mount Austin high School and utility Jamila Piercy.
In what was just reward for their determination, the star duo have secured an opportunity to vie for selection in the NSW All Schools representative team.
