SELECTORS of the Riverina AFL Team of the Century have put the call out to football fans to tell them the hard luck stories of the initial 50-man squad.
AFL NSW-ACT, along with the selectors, will look to add to the 50-man Riverina AFL Team of the Century that was unveiled last month.
The initial 50-man squad has created plenty of controversy and talk for football followers of all ages across the Riverina.
Osborne's Reg Gleeson, Narrandera's Terry O'Neill, Lockhart's Josh Wooden, Marrar's John Fox and Corowa's Peter Chisnall have been some of the names considered unlucky over the past couple of weeks.
The selectors will meet in Canberra on February 26 to discuss the team and Southern NSW AFL regional manager Jason McPherson wants to ensure every deserved player is given consideration.
"Who did we miss, the selectors want to know who should be in the team," McPherson said.
"They're requesting the public's help for any missing players.
"Because of the large period involved, we want to make sure we explore every avenue to find the best players.
"The selectors need your help and we want the public to have a say."
The criteria for selection is a minimum of 50 AFL, VFL or state league games.
They must have played junior football in the Riverina.
The Riverina is defined as per AFL's census boundaries, which excludes the Albury local government area.
Geelong star Mark Bos has already withdrew from the squad of 50, given he did not play junior football in the Riverina.
Nominations for the squad are to be emailed to snswdevelopment@aflnswact.com.au
The squad will be extended to as much as 60.
Former The Daily Advertiser sports journalist and current ABC commentator and journalist, Quentin Hull, has been confirmed as the master of ceremonies in a further boost for the gala event.
The big night will be held at Murrumbidgee Turf Club on Friday March 20.
More than half the tickets for the evening have been sold and are available from the AFL NSW-ACT office in Wagga at $120 a head.
Paul Kelly, John Longmire, Kevin Sheedy and Dennis Carroll are all confirmed guests.
