This week, Wodonga Council voted to sell 30 hectares of its Logic estate at Barnawatha North for a rail hub development as part of its efforts to tackle its debts.
Traxion, the company driving the development of the hub, believes the possibility of another hub at Wodonga might be a positive for the Bomen facility, according to its executive director Sean Wilson.
"It has potential to strengthen the business case - there's potential for either site to work as hubs for transport," he said.
"You could run port shuttles between any intermodal hub regionally to a major site to be able to run significant export-bound trains."
Mr Wilson said "significant positive developments" were being made with the development of the RIFL hub, still in its early stages, with pre-feasibility studies being conducted.
Far from being worried about the potential for more rail hubs to spring up in the region, Mr Wilson has welcomed the possibility of other developments.
"With most of the expansion and development of the RIFL site correlated to current users of the Wagga region, suffice to say we've always known there'll be other developments," he said.
"We welcome more transport and transport hubs on rail and the delivery of greater efficiency to farmers and end users who own the product for export and domestic markets."
Construction of stage one of the RIFL hub is expected to begin at the end of the year and be completed by early 2017.
