I recently found out my brother is in jail. I haven't spoke to him in years because of the path he chose to go down with drugs etc and his attitude is appalling: he is a womaniser, aggressive, abusive and a control freak.

I am still unsure of the reason he's locked up but I think it's a good thing for him and about time he paid his dues for the things he has done in the past. I hope he learns from this.
On the other flip of the coin, I am undecided if I want to and should reach out to him and try to help direct him on the right path.
He can be a nice guy when he is off drugs and takes his medication but that's on rare occasions that anyone sees him straight.
It's just frustrating and all hell breaks loose when he is in this induced psychotic state. Twenty-five years of his drug-induced crap was more than I could tolerate and that is why I stopped contact previously.
I don't know if I could deal with the complications of bonding with him again and the total letdown if he won't straighten up his act.
Is it worth a try or am I banging my head against a brick wall ?
