The Access All Areas Film Festival shows how easy it can be to make culture accessible to everyone.

It brings great films to audiences that would not otherwise have a chance to enjoy them. The festival promotes inclusiveness and raises awareness of ability and access issues.

From 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, February 18, we invite you and your guests to enjoy the museum’s next Fashion Exchange Event presented in conjunction with the Emporium exhibition currently touring to Wagga from the Albury LibraryMuseum.

Our previous event, held in July 2014, saw over 120 fashion innovators meet, socialise and exchange fashions from their wardrobe with other members of the community.

The idea of the community fashion exchange is to promote recycling, sharing and social engagement and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Fashion Exchange is a free event hosted by Rebecca Hillis and Kirrily Welsh, two very experienced op-shoppers who will be on hand to assist with outfit creations and tips on how to get the best out of pre-loved clothing.

Gather your friends and bring along five pieces of clothing or fashion accessories, including shoes, handbags, jewellery and/or scarves that you love, but no longer love to wear, and you can exchange them for something ‘new’ that has been brought along by someone else.

Every year when the City of Wagga celebrates Australia Day, we add a new inductee to the Sporting Hall of Fame, recognising the outstanding achievement of Wagga athletes who have reached the highest level of their chosen sport.

In 2015 we are excited to induct Sally Shipard, one of the most recognisable faces in women’s football in Australia. 

At just 16 years of age, Sally made her international debut, her Olympic debut and became a full member of the Matildas, before making her FIFA Women’s World Cup debut at 18.

2015’s Local Legend, Barry O’Hagan was an outstanding cyclist and excellent rugby league player and coach. He performed at an international level as a cyclist and at senior regional representative level in League.

One of the remarkable aspects of his cycling career is his longevity. Barry kept winning major races over a 38-year period.

Wagga is proud of its first-class sporting and recreational facilities. These, coupled with a very high level of community support in running the numerous sports bodies in the city, provide an excellent base for sports people to establish their careers in their chosen sport.

Both sites of the Museum of the Riverina are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and 10am to 2pm on Sundays. Closed Mondays.

The Museum’s Historic Council Chambers site can be found on the corner of Morrow and Baylis Street and the Botanic Gardens site is located on Lord Baden Powell Drive, Willans Hill.
