STILL ruing another poor batting performance, Lake Albert captain Kurt Robertson is desperate for a more concerted effort with the willow if the Bulls are going to reach the finals this year.
Currently fifth and almost two points behind fourth-placed Wagga RSL, the Bulls have a big challenge ahead of themselves to extend their season.
With two rounds remaining Lake Albert need to at least one win over South Wagga or Wagga City.
It's no easy feat, with both clubs firmly entrenched in the top three.
Taking on the Blues in a two-day match at McPherson Oval on Saturday, Robertson has once again added batting strength.
Tom Blanch and Sam Quinton will come in for Brett Davies and Jesse Hampton.
Robertson believes South Wagga is short on bowling options this season and wants to exploit it.
"We are looking to change our approach with South Wagga," Robertson said.
"We've tried to stiffen up our batting order as we believe they are a bowler short.
"In saying that, what they do have is top quality, but we will be trying to get spells out of all their bowlers and make the full 80 overs count."
St Michaels scored its second win of the season with a 32-run win over the Bulls.
Full of confidence coming into the match, Robertson believes the loss has had a big impact of the club.
"It was very disappointing, but at the same time it was a bit of a wake-up call," Robertson said.
"It has definitely changed our approach for this week."
The loss once again highlighted the Bulls' struggles with the bat, with only Robertson and Tom Webb reaching double figures.
However, Robertson believes finals are still in the equation.
"We've been batting well up until the last two games, and if we are good enough in the next two games we will still get there," Robertson said.
"It's only been us batters letting down our bowlers down all year and nearly every game we haven't been getting enough runs to back our bowlers up and they've been doing the job for us week in, week out."
