It will soon be on the move from its current busy Johnston Street location.
Speculation has been rife over a number of potential sites in the past few years, including blocks at Charles Sturt University, the Wagga Showground and the Wagga Base Hospital.
The impending announcement of the new ambulance station is expected to be the first new major infrastructure announcement in Wagga in the lead-up to the state election on March 28.
The Advertiser understands planning for the new station is in its final stages, with a site at Fernleigh Road earmarked for the development.
It is expected Health Minister Jillian Skinner will travel to Wagga in the coming weeks to unveil the final plan for the new station.
Wagga's ambulance station has been located at its present Johnston Street site for the past 85 years.
It is believed the new station will include a workshop and a communications room and will cost several million dollars to build.
A spokeswoman for Mrs Skinner told the Advertiser there was "nothing in concrete" at this stage with regards to the potential new station.
