Toys'R'Us will open in the old Sam's Warehouse building on Trail Street, next to the Forum 6 Cinemas, which features more than 3200 square metres of floor space.
Sam's Warehouse closed its Wagga store in August after its parent company went into receivership.
"It's a very exciting time to be bringing the world's largest toy and baby brand to Wagga," Toys'R'Us managing director Dianne Guerreiro said.
"We are creating over 60 new positions in the Wagga community and bringing a whole range of exclusive products and services to mums, dads and families all under one roof."
The Wagga Toys'R'Us store, which will become the chain's 34th store nationwide, will also feature a Babies'R'Us outlet under the same roof.
The retailer will begin fitting out the building, which is managed by Wagga-based firm Damasa, from Monday.
Damasa director Manuel Donebus said Toys'R'Us would prove an exciting addition to the Wagga retail scene.
"We're excited to be able to bring an organisation like Toys'R'Us and Babies'R'Us to town to fill what we think is a void in the Wagga market for these sort of businesses," he said.
"We're looking forward to them having a successful future at the site - we think they fit in really well down there with the concept of the entertainment precinct and we think they'll do very well."
Toys'R'Us plans to hold a special grand opening event at the Wagga store when it officially opens mid-next month.
