Police are hoping a man who was shot while standing on a footpath in Sydney's CBD on Sunday night will be able to shed some light on the identity of his attacker.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to Sydney Hospital after he was shot while standing on the footpath near Dorchester House on Macquarie Street at 10.30pm. The location is just 200 metres from State Parliament.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the man's injuries were not life-threatening, and detectives were hoping to speak to him in hospital on Monday when his condition improved.
No one else was injured during the shooting, she said, but the cause of the shooting was not immediately clear.
The spokeswoman said police from the Sydney City Local Area Command were initially called to Macquarie Street, between Bent and Bridge streets, following reports that a number of shots had been fired.
Police set up a crime scene and closed Macquarie Street while officers conducted line searches and forensic police examined the area. The street reopened about 5.30am on Monday.
The police spokeswoman said another man was arrested in the area on Sunday night, but it was not related to the shooting.
