All signs point to spectacular weather on Thursday, with sunny skies and warm temperatures expected throughout the day.
It will be mostly sunny as the mercury climbs from 18 degrees to a maximum of 33 degrees, Wagga weather office technical officer Bruce Copplestone said.
"For our neck of the woods it looks like a beautiful Christmas Day," Mr Copplestone said.
However, Mr Copplestone said the sky won't be crystal clear all day because there would be some cloud cover at times and light winds.
A possible thunderstorm is predicted in the northern Riverina, with Young set to be affected.
Elsewhere in the Riverina, a mostly sunny day is forecast with temperatures reaching the mid to low 30s.
The outlook is also looking good for Boxing Day, with sunny skies and a top of 27 degrees expected.
"It will be a good day for watching the cricket and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race," Mr Copplestone said.
But the ground looks set to be wet at the MCG for the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India, as Melbourne is soaked with early showers.
Wagga will have to wait until next week to receive some of that rain.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts the city has a 40 per cent chance of rain and a possible early morning thunderstorm on Monday.
The bureau is predicting a top of 34 degrees on Wednesday, with showers in the morning and afternoon.
