ANDREW Behnke can lay claim to being the longest driver at the Wagga Country Club.
Behnke launched a drive about 280 metres to be one of four winners of Wagga Country Club's longest drive final on Sunday afternoon.
The monthly winners of the longest drive competitions all came together for the Sureway Longest Drive Final where Ben Hewitt, Behnke, Anthony Dowdle and Rick Tribe came out winners.
More than 45 golfers took part in the final, held on the ninth hole of the Country Club, where the "majority" found it difficult to land on the fairways.
Hewitt took out the 0-40 years category with a drive of about 275 metres, while Behnke's 280m whopper took out the 41-54 years.
Anthony Dowdle took to the tee bare footed and claimed victory in the 55-64 years, while Rick Tribe had no trouble hitting the fairway with his two drives to take out the 65 and over.
Wagga Country Club club captain Stephen Childe said it was an entertaining final.
"The 'majority' found it hard to land on the fairway, with a few boys launching their tee shots way up into the car park," Childe said.
"The early favourites weren't on song - and it only goes to prove 'hit the fairway first Son, then worry about how far you reckon you can smash it'."
