AN ICE addict given a lifeline by the court three months ago after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified seven times in about seven weeks faces jail now after being charged another three times.
Carissa Margaret Hemphill, a 23-year-old mother of three, was ordered to perform 300 hours of community service on September 24.
Magistrate Michael Antrum stopped short of jailing the repeat offender for several reasons, including the fact she had spent six weeks in custody up to that point and had pleaded guilty at an early stage, which attracted a 25 per cent discount on sentence.
But Mr Antrum told Hemphill he was going out on a limb for her.
He asked Hemphill if she would stay out of trouble.
"110 per cent your honour," Hemphill replied.
Police allege Hemphill has done anything but stay out of trouble.
They allege Hemphill was behind the wheel of a car on October 28, December 5 and last Wednesday, December 17.
She is already disqualified from driving until May 25, 2029.
Hemphill, of Turvey Park, has pleaded not guilty to all three allegations, claiming other people were driving the car.
Hemphill was locked up by police after she was allegedly seen driving in Turvey Park just before 3am on Wednesday.
She appeared in Wagga Local Court later in the day and applied for bail.
He solicitor Susan Barnes told Mr Antrum Hemphill would comply with any conditions of bail, including reporting to police daily, a curfew and a promise not to occupy the driver's seat of any motor vehicle.
Mr Antrum refused bail, saying it had reached the point where the risks of further offending could not be mitigated by bail conditions.
Hemphill's case was adjourned to January 30.
